National Sauce Month

March is National Sauce Month and lucky for you, we have the perfect cookbooks to help you spice up your next dish! If you’re in the market for a new sauce recipe, Sauce Basics : 87 Recipes Illustrated Step by Step by Keda Black has got you covered. If you’ve got the hankering for a saucy dish, then we recommend 300 Best Taco Recipes : From Tantalizing Tacos to Authentic Tortillas, Sauces, Cocktails & Salsas by Kelley Coffeen, or Paula Deen's Southern Cooking Bible : the Classic Guide to Delicious Dishes with More Than 300 Recipes. For even more yummy recipes, check out our non-fiction section or look on Hoopla/OverDrive.

BPL is also hosting a fun children’s program in honor of National Sauce Month! On March 9th from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM, grades K-5 are invited to come taste a variety of sauces and learn about each of them. Anyone interested in attending this program can register through our website.

Despite sauce once being used as a  way to cover or mask foods that were no longer fresh or pleasant to eat, it has now become a delicious addition to a variety of foods; from chips to spaghetti, to sandwiches or drinks, it can truly tie together a dish. I don’t know about you, but I’m certainly excited to celebrate my love for sauce.
